An Era of Speaker Accountability
These challenging and pivotal times demand that a keynote speaker be more than dynamic and motivational.
A speaker who is "up to the challenge" must teach new concepts, new and pertinent ideas and skills...and induce change.
Author, Psychotherapist, Medical Advocate, Journalist, War Zone Counsellor, Political and Strategic Advisor, Brilliant Satirist and...
Speaker par Excellence!
"Dr. Lauren's breadth and depth of knowledge, combined with solid scholarship, a passionate connection with people, her need to contribute, and her ability to make the gravest subjects palatable, bestow upon her membership among the great public women and global leaders of our pivotal times." Dr. T.E. Hale, Physicians without Borders
Dr. Lauren is neither an ordinary "speaker", nor an ordinary individual.
Dr. Lauren has taught and motivated groups around the world with powerful, customized, presentations geared to the specific and shared challenges of her audiences. Whether participants are at military installations or settings, or are the family victims of 9/11, Dr. Lauren has gone where "speakers" have dared not, and could not tread.
Inadvertently, and concurrent with stunning revelations about her life and work to be revealed in a forthcoming biography (and documentary), Dr. Lauren exhibits a quiet courage and a universally comforting calm. She also consistently imparts hard-won wisdom, clarity of message, and the unifying element of humor to foreign and domestic audiences alike.
“Rarely in the country of her birth, we in the United States benefit from yet another exemplar of what has always been Canada’s greatest export to our country – its brains, creative thinking, and an inimitably uncanny wit.” Aaron Beck, Journalist
Tidbits of the Unique Brand that is Dr. Lauren
Dr. Lauren received VIP congratulations for her recent one-woman show, HALT THE INSANITY – A Shrink Speaks Out, a benefit for patients afflicted with pancreatic cancer. A hilarious program ideal for entire families, it was social psychology at its most understandable, identifiable, and hilarious. Click here to read what audience members said.
As part of her “Global Sanity Project”, Dr. Lauren continues to promote her international initiative, Voices for International Alliances, with a growing , communicating membership of over 12 million people around the world. Her political, social, educational and medical blog, The Orion Post, has had to self-post for a few months while she worked with an increasing number of traumatized soldiers and families intimately involved in and forever changed by the “apparent necessity of the insanity of war”.
Political and Corporate Consultation (and “Keynoting”): Lauren continues to work with politicians in Canada and key leaders in the Democratic Party in the United States. She founded the Canadian Leadership Alliance to encourage discussion among influential and committed Canadians about the necessity for attuned, prescient, and globally involved leadership for a country with untapped potential. Associates, colleagues, and mentors alike echo the opinion voiced by a senior journalist for the Boston Globe, when he wrote, “Dr. Lauren is the wittiest and most compassionate, serious and brilliant person I have ever met”.
An American Bank and Morale: Dr. Lauren has been contracted to bring her knowledge and people-skills to assist in the “mental and emotional bail out” of surviving employees and middle managers.
Climate Change and Disasters: In addition to her hands-on involvement at Ground Zero, school, university and street shootings, airline disasters, in war zones and on army bases, among other, innumerable, challenging situations, Dr. Lauren searched for the living and the deceased in New Orleans (Katrina), and headed to the American wet lands (the 3rd largest in the world), to pitch in, in whatever way she was instructed.
Upcoming Books: New ground will be broken with Dr. Lauren’s soon to be published book, No Chance to Say Goodbye, about the effects of care giving for a parent with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. She is also well into a readable and fascinating book on the psychology of driving, called DRIVE SANE. A third book on the effects of continental terrorism on the population of North America (not just on Americans) is drawing academic and forensic interest from both countries.
Marketing, Forensic Analysis, and Jury Evaluation: Lauren is currently working on a campaign for a major automobile company, continues doing forensic profiles on born and bred Americans and Canadians, as well as on individuals who display strong indications of ideological aggression.
Acting, Commentary, and Television: While travelling at the time, Dr. Lauren was located and asked for “sound byte” analysis of the “child shootings” and deaths in Winnipeg in May. She is working on both a screenplay and a documentary script (on separate subjects). She has recently agreed to a season on a popular Canadian reality show.
Involvement in Sports at the Competitive Level and Professional Coaching: Having evolved into teaching and speaking about applications of performance psychology (to the work place, balancing home and work, etc), a fascination partially rooted in strict regimens associated with three major sports, Dr. Lauren has worked with two hockey franchises, as well as with over a dozen individual athletes at the national or international level.

Complacency, Cooperation, or Collaboration
Understanding, Learning and Practicing the Components of Synchronized Success. There has never been a greater need for resourceful interaction and behavior, synchronized thinking, and shared, mutually fuelled motivation among employee populations and managers. Studies show that, due to several factors (including financial, organizational, and global uncertainty), the majority of the working population is either resigned or paralyzed with anxiety. Understandably, this translates into complacency, rote cooperation, and an absence of what it takes for collaboration. In this presentation, Dr. Lauren explains the key differences between the three states. There is also an enlightening hands-on exercise that can be used for a break-out session; the exercise gets to the root of the resistance many share with respect to collaboration and collaborative success.
